No surprises really, the top four mice just happen to be four of the range-topping mice available. In at number one is the Razer Mamba, a top-spec wireless mouse that has proven to be incredibly popular despite its high price tag. Not only does it offer the flexibility of being wireless, it also comes with a great recharging dock and looks great too.

In second place is the updated version of my personal favourite (and choice for Best Gaming Mouse 2009), the Logitech G9x. High dpi, lots of buttons and swappable shells for greater comfort. What’s not to like?

Third place is another Logitech, this time the G500. This is a reworking of the classic G5 and I expect this to be a big seller for Logitech.

Next, in fourth place is another wireless mouse. The Microsoft Sidewinder X8 is another excellent wirless gaming mouse that had the misfortune of being released at about the same time as the technically superior Razer Mamba. While the X8 might not be quite as good as the Mamba it is still a very good wireless mouse that works extremely well, and also happens to cost a lot less.

Close behind the X8 in fifth place is the Razer Naga which, despite the unusual layout of its seventeen buttons, looks like it could be winning over a few MMO players. It’s certainly a unique design and it will be interesting to see if it catches on and whether any other manufacturers try to copy it.

Filling out the middle of the chart are the Steelseries Xai, Roccat Pyra and bluetooth-enabled Razer Orochi. Then propping up the bottom of the chart are the Steelseries Kinzu, Alienware Tactx and Speedlink Kudos, with the Microsoft Sidewinder X3 coming in last with just a single vote.
